Two on the go

After a wee break due to time challenges I have gone back to my short story.

Usually when I am coming toward the end of one of the stories I am working on I start getting an idea for the next. But this time I just knew that I had to get the rough copy done before I had finished the other one.

Though I am now starting to think about revisiting my other stories and editing them again. But then again I know that I have read from an author that there is no such thing as a final edit. They always want to go back and change something.

But for now I just need to make sure that I finish the short story that I am working on. This will be one of my final edits. Though it does not help that I do not feel that good at the moment and that means I am not concentrating so well.

Writing again

I was sorting through the Star Wars short stories when I got the urge to work on my story again.

When I saw the dates of when I started and when I last edited I cannot believe that I have left it that long.

Though it is like looking at the story through fresh eyes. One thing that I discovered about the story was the conflict of feelings. I know that the story is from a first person point of view and in the present tense. I was feeling like the story was in a past tense when reading it though. Thankfully it did not take me long to realize that the reason for this was that I had used a lot of words that are normally used when talking in a past tense.

I am now in the process of editing all of the past tense words. So far it is working much better and I have changed a lot.

I have also asked my friend who has written many things if he will look at the story and offer his opinion about what it is like and anything that I can do to improve it.

I am glad that I am starting to make progress again.

So far I have written

Oops I have been a bad girl.

I do need to do something about it. I just need to get out of this bad rut I am in.

Plans for 2012

Happy New Year

My plans for this year are big, but with planning I can get it done.

This is what I want to get done:

1. Complete the Star Wars short story that I started.
2. Complete a draft of my first full novel.

That will keep me busy, but the most challenging thing will be keeping focused and motivated. I will make sure that I do it.
