The end of the year

At the start of the year I said that I wondered what I would produce this year.

The answer is...not a lot.

Once again the time when I suffered complete motivation loss in the summer affect all aspects of my life.

I did at least produce something. The main things is that I published two stories on fanfiction.net (One of the stories needing the editing finished). I did not get any comments on them but I did it. I also completed a a rough version of a short story. I need to fill out the fight scenes and complete the editing but at least I have finished the story. when I go back to it all I need to do is read it to understand what I need to do to improve it.

I did not do much to my short story series, but I have made a start and it is something that I can go back to once I have got the time. Writing storied is not something that I can earl a living out of and while I do enjoy it, sadly other priorities will mean that it will constantly get pushed down the list of things that need to be done.

We will see what happens when the twins start school in August. That should give me the time that I need to get some writing done.

Ooh it is back

The desire to continue writing my short story that it. I will read through it so that I will hopefully find continuing to write it easier.

The main thing is that I need to write the fight scenes. For that I will have a look through a couple of my Star Wars books that features a fist fight to see how they were written.

Happy Christmas

I think I will have to write a Christmas story at some point. I have enjoyed reading festive stories recently. I will have to think about what I can do.

Oops

Oops once again I have not made the time for my story. My bad

There just never seems to be enough of the right type of time that I need to write.

I think I will have to set myself a goal of at least a bit of time before I go to bed when it is peaceful.

Goals for the month

While the wee ones are at nursery I am to read through my short story and make any necessary editing. I also need to work on the fight scenes.

Been a bad girl

I have not looked at my story for a while now.

It has not helped that I have not been well recently.

Now that the wee ones are back at nursery and school I will use that time to work on my story.

Delay

I did not get any work done on my short story last month as I have been spending so much time cleaning the flat.

So last months challenge becomes this months challenge.

Goal for the month

I really am going to set myself a tough challenge this month.

I think I should finish the story ready for putting on the Internet.

It is going to be tough for me but I think that if I am able to apply myself I can get it done.

Goal for May

My goal for this month is to type the whole story up and get the most of the editing done.

I have finished writing and typing up the story. I have read through that and edited what I had written. It took me a while to get the changes typed up but I have done it and I am going to read through it again and make any changes needed. I have not done as much editing as I would have liked to but I am happy with the progress that I have made.

First Edit complete and typed up

I think I have discovered what takes up the most time when I work on a story. I edited the printed version pretty quickly. It is the typing up of the changes that has taken the time.

I managed to finish typing up the changes and I will print out the new copy of it to read over and see what changes I can make. I need to work on the fight scenes as there are three fight scenes that could do with being worked on.

I am also tempted to find a beta reader to read the finished story to hep me with the editing process.

I am happy with the story though and I like how it reads at the moment.

I have also changed the main characters new surname from Aryon to Rosion.

First edit done

I have read through the story that I am writing at the moment and I have made my first edit.

All I need to do is to type it up. I think that is the longest process as I find that it is more time consuming. I also have more restrictions as I can only work on typing when I have access to my computer, whereas when I am editing  the printed version I can take that with me when out an about.

I am hoping that I can get the changes typed up in the next couple of days.

Finished typing

I had not expected to finished typing so quickly but I have managed to finish typing the story tonight.

I have already changed one of the character names. It was one that I did not think I would change. But when I was typing up the story the original name did not seem right. I have changed the name Tayan to Tayer.

Character names

While typing out the story I decided that I really should create names for my characters. It took a while to find names that I thought were appropriate. That is one of the things that I do find difficult. Once I have found the right name I know as it just seems right.

I am not 100% happy with the surname for my main character when he has to change his identity. I will see what happen, I will either get used to it and it will become right or I will know it is wrong and I will find something better. It will be fine for now though.

Goal for the month

I have started typing up the story today. I have made good progress as well. Though I need to not get so snippy with the younglings when typing even though it is annoying to have my concentration broken.

I have now found an appropriate planet where the story should be based. The story will be based on the planet Ultaar in the Mid Rim territories.

My goal for this month is to type the whole story up and get the most of the editing done.

First draft finished

I have finished the first draft of my new story. I think it is funny how when I create a story how things can change. When I first thought of the story my main character was a female. But as I started writing I started visualizing the character as a male. when I thought of the main character as being a male it felt right. I did try to stick to the character being a female as I did want a story about a female Jedi but it just felt right to have the main character being a male. I then decided to go with my gut feeling and as soon as I had done that it felt right.

I will just have to write another story about a female Jedi.

I am glad that I have finished the first draft. I am happy with the story so far. I do need to read up about how to write out the fight scenes as I wrote a quick fight version of these that I know I want to pad out more.

Now for the challenging bit. I will start off by typing up the story. I am not sure why but I just like writing the very first version on paper before I type it up. Once it has been typed up I will start the editing process. This is the process that seems to take the longest for me. It is trying to work out the point when I have to say enough editing is enough. One author (I think it was Ian Rankin) said that an author never truly finishes the book. They can always go back and change something.

Next story

I have decided what my next Star Wars short story will be about. I have decided against using a character that I have already created. I am going to create another new character.


The idea came to me during the day and I just knew that I could create a story as it was forming as I was thinking of the idea. It seemed to flow nicely and the storyline seemed to come together nicely.

I will be basing the story around the end of the Clone Wars. The story will be starting around the time of Order 66. I suppose the fact that I have been catching up on season 2 of The Clone Wars - the animated series had played a big part in the decision about the next story.

I do think it would be good experience of writing about combat. that is one area that I have not had much experience in writing about. Even less than the writing experience that I have had. But I will definitely do my best to write it to the best of my ability. I think I will have to read through some of the fight scenes in the Star Wars book that I have got to help me out and see if there are any tips online to help me.

I am looking forward to writing the story.

Finishing a story

I have published my Star Wars stories on fanfiction.net 

It started off by just putting on the first story that I had done. I was told that there is a very small chance that it could get seen and published on Hyperspace. I was told it is like winning the lottery but I had to try.

I was so pleased that I had done it that I re-looked at the second story that I had written, printed it off and edited it. I am actually happy with it now. The last time I looked at it I was not sure how I should edit it. But I was able to start editing the story last night and finish it this morning.

I think I will start another Star Wars story based around one of the characters that I have already written about.

The challenge for this month

The challenge for this month is...


To finish the first short story that I have been working on. Even if it is the first draft. I just need to get something done.

I will also set myself the challenge of looking through another of my short stories and editing it. I have meant to do this for a while and I have not done it.

Oops

It really does not take much for things to grind to a halt.

In the last week I have been very busy cleaning the flat so I have not had the chance to get any writing done at all.

I do however need to set some time aside to do some writing. Even if it is just ten minutes. At least I will be able to get something done.

I will set myself the goal of getting at least ten minutes done a day next week.

And we have writing again

I managed to get some writing done last night.

I also need to think more about what is going to happen. I need a point in the story when there is a crisis point. I have got some ideas about what could happen.

I also really need to make out a name list. I have not really come up with names that I am really happy with. I have got a name for one of my main characters but I need much more than that. I always find thinking of names rather challenging.

I think I will set some time aside tomorrow morning to compile a name list.

Starting up

I find it hard to restart a story once I have had a break. It is much easier if I can complete a story without a break.

I have not written fo9r a few days but I am determined that even if I just get a page written that I will get something written tonight. I have found the book that I am writing it in.

I just need to make time to get some writing done.

Time to get started again

I have not been well for a few days so I was not able to get any writing done.

All I need to do now is get a good sleep and I will be ready to get started again.

i think that it is a good job that I do not need to make a living from writing.

The city with no name...

For now has a name. It may change at some point but so far this name seems like it seems appropriate.

The name of the city will be Abercair.

I had sat down and was adding more to the story when I thought I would have a look at the section that I printed out on town names. I thought I would try it out when I had thought of the idea and it sounded fine.

I did not get chance to write during the day as my partner did not take the younglings to his mums house as he normally does, however I did manage to get some written in the evening as my step daughter was on my computer.

I am hoping to write some more before I go to sleep. I think it would be better to get things written while ideas are still fresh in my mind. If I leave it there is a possibility that it will be more challenging to pick up where I have left off. I am happy with how things are coming along.

Though I am starting to have doubts about selling it on E-Bay when I have done. I will see how I feel when I have finished. It does not really matter if I decide to sell it or not as I really am writing it for me.

A name for the city

I have been racking my brains for a name for the city where my short stories are going to be based.

I have got ideas for part of the name but not the full name. I am hoping that I will have some inspiration about what to call it.

I have not had the chance to add much more to my first story, but that will hopefully change tomorrow when I will set some time to sit down and write some more.

Starting to make progress

I have not had that much time to write, but what time that I have had has been productive.

I am now starting to get a good idea of how the first story will come together, so writing it has started to get easier.

I also found some names that I should be able to start making a database from as well as well as finding out some information about how Celtic place names were devised. That will help me create a place name rather than using an existing place name or an historical one.

It is good to start making good progress though.

I started working on the first short story again.

I managed to get some work on my short story in the morning. I have decided that while the twins are at nursery I will spend some time in the morning working on my short stories.

I will also take the story to bed with me and see what I can get done before I go to sleep. I think tomorrow morning what I will do is just work on getting a good list of names to choose from. I need to name the town where the short story series is set as well as thinking of names for the new characters that I am going to introduce.

Hehe it is a good job that I do not write for a living as I would be pretty poor at the moment. Having said that, if I did do it for a living I would make sure that I made a heck of a lot more time to write.

Hopefully I will be able to get some good progress in the next few days.

Getting names

I have managed to get a list of traditional Scottish names for my stories. I will make up some more lists to give me a good choice.

I have not been able to make much more progress with the story at the moment as I have so busy during the day and by the time I get the time to write I am tooired to think. I will have another attempt tonight. Even if I only get a little written it will be better than nothing.

Started my new short story series

I have started writing a new short story series and I am planning on selling it on E-Bay to start with.

I have chosen which will be my first short story and I have worked out the plot for the story. Working out the plot has also given me an idea for another story for the series.

I also now need to work out names for people and places. I think I will use traditional Scottish names as well as Pictish names.

Now to get working on the first story.

New year

It is the new year already.

I wonder what I will be able to produce in the next year.

I am planning on writing a short story series and starting a romance story. Lets see how much of that I can achieve. It is very challenging to get the time to get anything written while the twins are at nursery, but i will do what I can.
